![]() The good news is that some stats, some learned skills, inventory, and your money will carry not only from one generation to the next, but even into NG+. While you do this, you can max out combat and (more importantly) magic skills so you're set to go for your NG+ run.ģ) Try not to get too attached to any one character: this is a "generations" game (see also SaGa Frontier 2). You'll need to build the orchard and upgrade it twice at the right times, but otherwise, the only way the tree grows is by battle counter. This is specifically for a grind-heavy trophy, Great Tree of Avalon. When all is said and done, you will need to fight approximately 2000 battles in a single playthrough. There are trophies that you can only get with the content, and there is no trophy that is made harder to get by including the additional content.Ģ) Though "grinding" technically makes the game harder (at certain battle counts, standard enemies and bosses upgrade HP and stats significantly), you should use your first playthrough to fight a lot of battles. It's not for the faint of heart, but with some grit (and a walkthrough), this JRPG can be conquered without too much of a headache.īefore moving forward, some basic tips for getting started with your first playthrough:ġ) When you start a new game, you'll be prompted as to whether or not you want to use additional content. And for good reason: the mechanics are strange, the stories are presented in non-traditional, non-linear ways, and you'll often feel lost and/or punished for making what seemed like decent decision-making in your mind. And Riki is the only character that has a quest in the gorgeous Ring Lord's castle.Welcome to the wonderful world of Romancing SaGa 2! Many consider the SaGa series the "black sheep" of Square Enix franchises. He always kept dying all the time! Despite all that, Riki's quest has some of the most gorgeous backgrounds in SaGa Frontier. When I played Riki's quest, Riki was always the weakest character in my battle party. All the time you finish a battle you have the option for a monster(s) to change into another one. I'm not a big fan of how the game handles monsters in your party. Riki's quest is the most challenging out of the rest of the characters, especially since he doesn't have that much freedom. He has embarked on a search for the missing rings. Riki already has one ring in his possession, but all the rings must be brought together for the power to be strong enough. Riki's homeworld, Margmel, is dying, and only the power of the legendary rings will prevent the entire region from being destroyed. "A monster seeking the rings of salvation" Equipping yourself with the Asura sword makes the game easier. The only catch is that you have to sacrifice half of your life points for it. There's one awesome thing about Asellus' quest! At the beginning of the game when you're still in the mystic world, you can snag the Asura sword from the green guy in town (one of the most powerful swords in the game!). A challenging aspect with her scenario are the boss battles that continually hit you at random from the mystics pursuing her. A mystic named Princess White Rose eventually sides with Asellus (I love her too!). Asellus eventually learns that she's half mystic and that all mystics are involved in some kind of cult worshipping a guy named Orlouge. Her scenario begins with Asellus getting run over by a carriage. I love Asellus! She's my favorite character. Though grateful to Orlouge, the Mystic whose blood saved her life, Asellus wonders whether she is Human or Mystic. Save from certain death by a transfusion of Mystic blood, Asellus became the first and only Human/Mystic half-breed on this world. "A wandering half-mystic in search of her identity"
